How Anima Squad Works

Anima Squad, like many other races before it, provides rewards for AD and AP based on the rank trait you have activated. The unique aspect of Anima Squad is Accumulation of health that you get during the game.

We've seen stacks of champions before like Veigar from Set 4, but that wasn't a trait before. However, the cumulative bonus only applies to the health of each Anima Squad champion.

Note that press Anima Squad Can be assembled from equipment components and Gold Shovel. Therefore, you can also find a way to pair Anima Squad with any champion that scales to Health like Zac, for example.

| Features of Anima Squad

Anima Squad: When an Anima Squad champion takes down another champion, they will stop to celebrate and your team will build a reputation. Anima Squad champions gain Physical Damage and Ability Power, +4 additional Max Health according to their overall reputation.

  • Anima Squad (3): 20% physical damage and 20 magic power.
  • Anima Squad (5): 40% physical damage and 40 magic power.
  • Anima Squad (7): 99% physical damage and 99 magic power.

Blood Accumulation

When an Anima Squad champion deals the finishing blow to an enemy unit, all Anima Squad units will get 4 Health permanently. The more Anima Squad units you use, the more this bonus increases.

Let's say you theoretically only use Anima Squad champions. If you win every round and take out every unit. By Stage 6, you can gain up to 400 Health per champion. With a squad of 7 Anima Squads, that's 2800 Health.

While that sounds cool and dandy, that's assuming everything is going perfectly. Even so, the Health stack bonus is a nice bonus.

| Anima Squad Synergy

Like some other traits, Anima Squad does not have synergies with Attribute/Clan champions.

Here is a list of the Attributes / Tribes you can pair with Anima Squad generals:

  • Mascot
  • Renegade
  • Pranksters
  • Brawler
  • Defender
  • Recon
  • Duelist
  • Ace

From the games we've tried so far, it seems Anima Squad is very flexible. You can play 3 Anima Squads and use other Clans/Types. You can also build an Anima Squad and try to hit the 7 mark.

With new Hero Enhancement , you can also try building each champion as a carry, creating a variety of abilities.

Features of Champions Anima Squad

Let's take a look at each of the Heroes in the Anima Squad Type/Clan and see what you can do with them. We'll also show each champion's Hero Enhancements so you know what to look out for.

Nasus (Anima Squad + Mascot)

Nasus is a simple frontline unit with auto attack ability enhanced. They took Bonkey Kong and turned Wukong into Nasus. The slow attack speed is pretty good and if you build your squad around Nasus he can also Bonk important targets in the backline.

Hero enhancement

Soul Eaters: Get a Nasus. When you attack him, he and his allies heal for 200 Health on kill.

Stack: Get a Nasus. He takes 10% Attack Damage, permanently increased by 3% each time he casts his Skill.

Sylas (Anima Squad + Renegade)

Sylas is also a simple frontline unit with a small AoE ability. His skill provides sustain, but it's fixed sustain, so it won't gain any crazy value. Maybe with enough AP, Sylas can become a Bruiser type carry with resistance and damage.

Hero enhancement

King Slayer: Get a Sylas. His ability deals 40% more damage and restores 20% of his missing Health.

Petricite Chain: Get a Sylas. When you use him, your team gains 15 Starting Energy and his Skills increase the enemy's Max Mana by 35%.

Jinx (Anima Squad + Prankster)

Jinx is the first backline unit we've seen, and her abilities are pretty impactful whether she's the main Carry or simply a support. Any type of stun is a bonus to skills, so Jinx will likely be used in Anima Squad or Prankster formations.

Hero enhancement

Everyone Goes BOOM!: Get a Jinx. When you use her, your team will gain 10% Attack Speed, tripled after the first enemy dies in each battle.

Excited!: Get a Jinx. When she scores a kill, she gains 100% Attack Speed and Movement Speed for 5 seconds.

Riven (Anima Squad + Brawler + Defender)

Riven is a 3-generation unit, which automatically makes her a strong choice for any Anima Squad lineup. Interestingly, Riven is both a Brawler and a Defender. We usually don't see units with both defensive characteristics. This makes the Anima Squad lineup quite versatile, as you can build into one of two frontline traits.

Hero enhancement

Echo:  Get a Riven. She gains 40 Ability Power and her Skill is also used on the ally with the lowest Health.

Victory Returns: Get a Riven. Start Battle: She grants herself and nearby allies a shield for 15 seconds equal to 40% of their maximum health.

Vayne (Anima Squad + Recon + Duelist)

Vayne is a backline DPS who also has 3 types/races like Riven. This time, her traits focus on her carrying potential. Duelist will give her good attack speed, while Recon will give her survivability. We'd expect most of Vayne's lineup to be more Duelist-oriented, or a more comprehensive lineup instead of being too Anima Squad-heavy.

Hero enhancement

Into the Night: Acquire the Cloak of Darkness and Vayne. When you use her, allies equipped with the Shadow Cloak gain 40% Attack Speed.

Shoot Lan: Get a Vayne. Her ability also shoots at 2 other nearby enemies dealing 50% damage.

Miss Fortune (Anima Squad + Ace)

Miss Fortune is the last unit of the Anima Squad, and her abilities are quite strong. She's had this ability before, in both Round 1 and Round 3, and it's making a comeback. Ace is a powerful trait, giving her the ability to execute. Even if she's not the main carry, having a tackle makes her a strong contender for any team spot.

Hero enhancement

Bunny Mercenary: Get a Miss Fortune. Her ability covers a wider cone and she gains a 300 Health shield when moving.

Make It Rain: Get a Miss Fortune. After every 3 players fight on the field – she gets 18 gold.

| Anima Squad Generals Strengthening Core

There are many Upgrades to choose from with the new Hero Enhancement system. Since season 8 is still in development, try them all. Build around Nasus, Vayne, Miss Fortune, whoever you want.

Best Hero Enhancement will change over time as the meta evolves and patches change everything. Here are some general additions to keep in mind.

The second wind

After 10 seconds of combat, your units will heal for % of their missing Health.

Since Anima Squad units stack health with their clan/type, this add-on gets more value because your units are naturally stronger.

Better to be together

Aura items that support your team have a 33% increase in effect. Get the Iron Solari Necklace.

I highly recommend this add-on if you use the Oath of Protection item. This is an aura item that will give your team additional health. This is also quite appropriate based on the maximum Health of the Anima Squad generals.

Big Friend

Your units that start fighting alongside a unit with more than 1650 Health will take 13% less damage for the rest of the battle.

This is another spell that works well when you have a group of champions with high Health.

Anima Squad lineup recommendation

It's still early in the PBE, so things are bound to change. But here is a lineup to try. As the updates roll out and the meta evolves, we might see changes to this roster, but for now, here's a quick look.

Vayne Carry Main

This is a lineup with Vayne as the main carry. The lineup doesn't focus entirely on Anime Squad, but uses a variety of Attributes/Cities to get to the end of the game.

This formation is a common framework to work with. For a full in-depth guide on how to build and deploy this squad, you can check it out on our website. here.
