How the Prodigy Works

The characteristics of the Prodigy are quite simple, but it will be difficult to understand its full potential. Basically, when you activate the trait, you will get an item has been heavily revised. But that item will only last for one round.

However, with the trait active, you will create one modified item each round. This means that while you have a strong item, you cannot reliably use it in every round.

This makes the gear up for carry Yours becomes quite difficult. You want to save an item slot for a strong GadgeTeen item. But you may not have the right items to carry every round.

| Characteristics of a Prodigy

Child prodigy:During each round, Prodigy champions will create an item that is equipped to any champion. These equipment have stronger stats than normal items but will be damaged after a turn. Prodigy champions will not create new equipment to replace the remaining equipment on the bench. The number of items generated increases according to the Shen Dong mark on the field.

Characteristics of Champions of the Prodigy

Let's take a look at each Hero in the Prodigy Attribute/Clan and what you can do with them. We will also display the Hero Enhancement of each champion so you know what to look out for.

LuLu (Prodigy + Lover)

Lulu is a guy deal AP damage back line. She doesn't offer much, but the Lover trait is a valuable thing to add to the squad to get more AP.

She would also be a good pick early to trigger the 3 trait bonus for an extra item.

Strengthening Hero Lulu

Growth: Get Lulu. When she uses her Ability, she gains 125 bonus Health and 25 Ability Power (this stacks).

Accelerated Growth: Get Lulu. When you attack her, she and her allies gain 35 Magic Power when equipped with an item.

Poppy (Prodigy + Guardian)

Poppy is a frontline unit for her Prodigy trait and her ability is a combination of damage and defense. The Guardians will be a solid Tanker to use from early to mid game. At the end of the game, you can find ways to branch out the Guardians into other units. Or you can keep Poppy for the active 5 Prodigy trait.

Poppy Hero Enhancement

Bigger, Better Buckler: Get a poppy. She gains 200 Armor.

Stable presence: Get a poppy. Start Battle: Your strongest Poppy grants all allies a 325 Health shield.

Annie (Prodigy + Magician + Bull Soldier)

Annie is the only 2 gold Prodigy champion and she is proud to have 3 good traits. There are 3 traits that always come into play early and mid game to help build your strongest board.

Annie is a mixed frontline type, and her survivability comes mainly from her ability, which allows her to gain a shield. If you don't want to use Poppy as Main Tanker, you can use Annie instead and favor AP damage.

Strengthening Hero Annie

Reflective Shield: Get an Annie. While her Ability shield is active, enemies that attack her take 150 magic damage (once every 0,5 seconds).

Burning Spirit: Get an Annie. When you use her, your team gains 15% Magic Power, tripled when they're below 50% Health.

Zoe (Prodigy + Hacker + Super Trick)

Zoe is the only 3 gold champion of the Prodigy and she has the same 3 traits as Annie. Zoe has a small energy level. Does that mean Green Charm and other sources of energy will help with her Skill spamming.

Although Zoe doesn't show too much Carry potential. But she will provide a good branch to other traits like Hacker, while also providing some extra damage.

Zoe Hero of Enhancement

Double bubble: Get a Zoe. Her ability launches a second bubble at another target, dealing 60% damage.

Sleep time: Get a Zoe. Start Battle: She puts the 3 lowest Health enemies to sleep stunning them for 4 seconds.

Nunu (Prodigy + Mascot)

Nunu is the ultimate Prodigy champion and is a 5 gold unit. Nunu resembles past units such as Singed from Season 2 or Aurelion Sol from Season 3. These units move around the chessboard to do damage.

However, power generation will still be good for Nunu because when he casts, the snowball he rolls will get bigger, faster and increase its damage.

Strengthening Hero Nunu

Laughter spreads: Get a Nunu. He gains 30 Magic Power and recovers 10 Energy every second.

They see me rolling: Get a Nunu. When you use him, your team gains 20 Ability Power and an additional 5 every 5 seconds.

Recommend the Shen Dong lineup

It's still early in the first version of season 8. So things are bound to change, but here's a roster to try. When new updates come out and development meta, we can see changes to this lineup. But for now, here's a team comp that you can experiment with.

This is a lineup featuring Leblanc as Main Dame. The lineup uses 5 generals of the Prodigy with Alistar for the Bull, Soraka for the Lover, and Leblanc as the main carry with the Hacker. The Hacker is great here because you can send Nunu straight into the enemy's backline where he will roll and become a threat.

Related Instructions

After all, Prodigy is a fun addition to the game and a trait that focuses on providing power through items. We've seen similar traits around the item system, but the Prodigy took it to the next level.

We haven't experimented too much with the prodigy variations, but we do notice a mix 5 Simple Prodigies with Hackers quite successful. Hope you will give it a try and leave us your feedback in the comments below.
